An interactive website for SA History Week, www.historyweek.sa.gov.au, has just gone live. The site provides all the information tens of thousands of participants will need to plan their week, and even download their own customised program.
Participants will also be able to leave comments on the 405 separate events organised by 294 different organisations. They can read the blog of a History Week devotee, search for the events in their region, get latest news and even follow the festival on facebook and twitter. A special feature allows people to highlight the events they would like to attend and save, print or share a personalised program.
Those who prefer the printed program can grab a copy now from community museums, council offices, libraries and visitor information centres. This year’s program features evocative images of people from the past, including migrants, workers, children, soldiers, sports people, families and local identities, all of whom, in their own way, have had an impact on the State.
History SA’s Chief Executive, Margaret Anderson said, “We are particularly excited about our new dedicated website for History Week. We hope it will help all our visitors to make the most of this great community history festival”.
The seventh annual SA History Week will be held from Friday 21 – Sunday 30 May 2010. Events on offer statewide include open days, guided tours, launches, presentations, lectures, bus tours, workshops, exhibitions and special events.
